There is also the temptation to just dump the photographs onto the post with not much explanation. I try to resist that as well, and stick to the mechanics of what happened, except for the dialogue bits at start and end.
Still, each to their own.The Polemarchhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10958736917525649927noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5185876513552272723.post-64111957142334355232022-06-26T03:25:52.716-07:002022-06-26T03:25:52.716-07:00Like you, I mainly blog for myself, but it's a...Like you, I mainly blog for myself, but it's always nice if people enjoy what you write. I'm a bit funny about battle reports - I enjoy writing them myself, but I often tend to skim through other people's or else not read them at all. I try with the photographs, but I'm not good at them and I've found a decent photo shows up how bad my painting and modelling is. My games are a bit like an aging starlet - they need a gentle, kind, soft fuzzy sort of picture, without too many details showing... I do have a suspicion that 'pretty pictures' can be important for attracting viewers to them - and I find it's quite hard work to get good photos! Your purely written pieces are perhaps your 'USP', maybe that's what most readers come for? But do please keep up the game reports and original campaign ideas!david in suffolkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02945969485547328039noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5185876513552272723.post-24827484297143401962022-06-19T03:06:39.460-07:002022-06-19T03:06:39.460-07:00Thank you. It might be a bit like painting- if you run out of unpainted figures your wargaming part dies a little; if you run out of wargame stories, that same is true.
Um. Most importantly for any blog you do write well which makes it enjoyable to read.

I do agree that wargames are better when told or played as a story. Most games are better for this. Given all of these variable inputs, each story is worth telling. After all, you are a storyteller.

Battle reports on my blog remain popular and often rise to the top of the 30 day post rotation. Stats show battle reports receive as many or more hits than other posts.Jonathan Freitaghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07862373894196924886noreply@blogger.com
