They tend to be tucked away in a corner, especially at this time of year. But gifts, furniture, cream teas, clothes, craft items, books, DVDs and other assorted odd items, including now Airfix kits and figures are readily available.

I am very tempted by the boxes, but I'm also trying to finish my Classical Indians by Christmas. something is going to have to give.

Have a 'cool yule' as some annoying people are still saying. The Polemarchhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10958736917525649927noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5185876513552272723.post-75975298124754079532014-12-22T02:28:23.919-08:002014-12-22T02:28:23.919-08:00They got as far is Italy? 'Wings Over Africa' I think it was called, about an ex-WW1 pilot flying and fighting there. I think they dismounted the machine guns from the plane to use in battle. I can't remember anything else about the book, though. The Polemarchhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10958736917525649927noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5185876513552272723.post-90669960010627776532014-12-22T02:18:25.183-08:002014-12-22T02:18:25.183-08:00I did wonder if any landed up in the W. Except to say that I spent some time following some Gurkhas around the Canadian prairie at British Army Training Suffield just at the end of fall. Bitterly cold at night. They were the most insanely and annoyingly cheerful people I've ever met under those circumstances, which would make me inclined to get some Gurkha figures just for that. FYI, Byron Farwell wrote a very accessible book years back called The Gurkhas, some good basic info. A very happy Christmas to you and yours as well. For my new years resolution I shall follow your thought-provoking blog more attentively than I do of late.Mad Padrehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00410143683610813671noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5185876513552272723.post-84896817755577233592014-12-20T09:24:36.680-08:002014-12-20T09:24:36.680-08:00Western Desert and Italy - 4 Indian Div. It failed to answer the question "Why?" but did suggest that the Ethiopean and Somalian campaigns nicely tied in with the topic of Colonial Wargaming.

I wish you a Merry Yuletime celebration.Ross Mac rmacfa@gmail.comhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04053555991679802013noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5185876513552272723.post-11240455584678763212014-12-20T03:42:35.370-08:002014-12-20T03:42:35.370-08:007th and 9th Gurkha Rifles fought in the Western De...7th and 9th Gurkha Rifles fought in the Western Desert too.JWHhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01637785437909299947noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5185876513552272723.post-8723949644367304482014-12-20T03:33:42.071-08:002014-12-20T03:33:42.071-08:00East African campaign, there were Gurkha battalion...East African campaign, there were Gurkha battalions in the Indian Divisions which took part.JWHhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01637785437909299947noreply@blogger.com
