The Royalists had to spend a lot of resources protecting Oxford, while the Parliamentary hold on East Anglia gave them a strong resource base, along with London. If the Parliamentarians keep focussed then they can win. If they get distracted to the peripheries before gaining the upper hand in the south, it is a lot more difficult. But that is based on just one fun but not fully thought through game. The Polemarchhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10958736917525649927noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5185876513552272723.post-37664958760258016242022-06-04T02:39:34.634-07:002022-06-04T02:39:34.634-07:00Ah, rather an overuse of latter. I'm still not sure about ECW.The Polemarchhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10958736917525649927noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5185876513552272723.post-48392317566043866612022-06-02T22:00:40.221-07:002022-06-02T22:00:40.221-07:00I think a multi-track ECW (or even better War of t...I think a multi-track ECW (or even better War of the 3 Kingdoms) ladder would be brilliant - the kind of thing that Wargames Developments do. When I re-fought the ECW as an area-based campaign, it actually nearly resolved into a tracked campaign anyway because the limited number of routes have their own very strong internal logic to them.Johnhttps://hereticalgaming.blogspot.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5185876513552272723.post-57255867479562610702022-06-02T21:58:05.268-07:002022-06-02T21:58:05.268-07:00Apologies, I am having a bit of trouble parsing th...Apologies, I am having a bit of trouble parsing the second sentence in the final paragraph - does the second use of 'latter' refer to the same thing as the first use of 'latter', or the other way around? Not trying to be weird grammar police, but I can't work out if the 'mix' or 'single complex battle' is your currently preferred option for the ECW?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5185876513552272723.post-75092313005223346782022-05-29T02:09:35.885-07:002022-05-29T02:09:35.885-07:00Yes, I keep an eye on him, and I agree, excellent ...Yes, I keep an eye on him, and I agree, excellent stuff. But it needs more thinking about than I gave to the ECW game :)The Polemarchhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10958736917525649927noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5185876513552272723.post-65361345011586849382022-05-28T07:38:15.767-07:002022-05-28T07:38:15.767-07:00Have a look at Peter's blog - he has some fasc...Have a look at Peter's blog - he has some fascinating views on ladder/map campaigns (his North Africa ww2 stuff is superb)<br />https://gridbasedwargaming.blogspot.com/Duc de Gobinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10668407600014604176noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5185876513552272723.post-58192068867812965392022-05-28T07:37:15.355-07:002022-05-28T07:37:15.355-07:00Have a look at Peter's blog - he has some fasc...Have a look at Peter's blog - he has some fascinating views on ladder/map campaigns (his North Africa ww2 stuff is superb)<br />https://gridbasedwargaming.blogspot.com/Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
