Another 'the Great' who might not have been that great but was damned good all the same, and a wily son of a Wild Goose who had the upper hand operationally. Evenly matched forces. Defender cunningly deployed but with a wing partly exposed. Beloved of SYW wargamers - featured in early Charles Grant publications. 'Terrain rich' battlefield so you can get more of your models out. Any result but an absolute thrashing of either side would be plausible. Or evidence of a very rash gamer.nundankethttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12895608927860103442noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5185876513552272723.post-83369387510294843532020-12-28T09:25:52.945-08:002020-12-28T09:25:52.945-08:00Many thanks. In deployment, it depended on the situation. In smaller skirmishes, probably not. In more formal battles (which didn't happen in 1630's Low Countries) I'd imagine they would deploy as conventional pike & shot battalia or brigades (the Spanish had abandoned any pretence of the tercio formation beloved of artists of the period and wargamers, if they ever used it). Hence the vague idea of pre-defined battalia in the WotCR rules, representing the brigading together of the elements. The Polemarchhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10958736917525649927noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5185876513552272723.post-7068668199753617612020-12-28T07:11:41.174-08:002020-12-28T07:11:41.174-08:00Hi, one question about the lists in the WotCR set:...Hi, one question about the lists in the WotCR set: is it right to have separate blocks of pike and shot for Dutch and Spanish armies of 1631?JWHhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01637785437909299947noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5185876513552272723.post-50900811160440387192020-12-28T01:57:52.304-08:002020-12-28T01:57:52.304-08:00Thank you.
